Fred's POV:
Have you ever had that dream where you are caught in a room with the man of your dreams while your currently estranged boyfriend is fighting zombie lawyers behind one door and your boss and his son are fighting more zombie lawyers behind the other? I suppose not, it's probably not a common dream. And of course, in my case, it's not even a dream. It really happened to me today.
Wesley came by the hotel to tell Angel that Connor was trapped inside Wolfram and Hart with the Beast. Apparently, Wesley had an informant within the law firm. He wouldn't tell us who, but I have to admit that I was pretty impressed. After all, with everything Wolfram and Hart has done to Angel, I'm surprised we never had anyone on the inside before. I suppose Wesley had to step away from Angel in order to gain access to that type of information. The informant must be, or rather, must HAVE been getting paid very well or had strong personal loyalty to Wesley because Wolfram and Hart has mind readers and I hear they don't look kindly on traitors.
But none of that matters now, I guess, since when we went to find Connor, all the Wolfram and Hart employees had been turned into zombies. And that's where y'all came in. Wesley, Charles and I had been searching for Connor when the zombies attacked. Charles and Wesley were not exactly getting along. To be honest, Charles was being mean, insulting Wesley's information. I tried to remind him that Wesley is his friend, but Charles insisted that was past tense. Anyway, Charles was bitten by one of the lawyers and asked Wesley to not let him be a zombie for long, if that was how it worked. Wesley agreed and asked for the same consideration, which Charles granted a little too gleefully.
Then the zombies attacked and Wesley and I escaped into another room with Charles still fighting behind the door. I'll admit that I was scared for Charles, but somehow everything else started to fade away. Wesley brushed his hand over my cheek to reassure me that we would be safe and his touch made me feel calmer and braver than I have in months. Wesley has always made me feel safer than the circumstances around me would normally permit. It's like; when I'm with him I know he'll protect me with his life. It's his way of showing that he loves me and I realized today that, by accepting that comfort and love, I can show him that I love him too.
It's too early for us to act on it. Wesley still feels like he's not part of Angel Investigations and after this morning I doubt Charles could deal with this. You'd think if Charles really cared about me, he'd want me to be happy even if it is with Wesley. But, I think Wesley was right. "No one likes to lose, no matter the circumstances." So, I'll wait and hope and dream that if we survive all this Wesley and I will finally be together. No zombies allowed.
