DISCLAIMER: These characters do not belong to me; they belong to their original creators, and I make no profit.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: For some reason, Fred having to go to Pylea makes perfect sense to me. It's Cordy I have trouble with. Archive permission granted as always to Whole New World and Blue Moon Rising. Enjoy and send feedback if you can.
Fred's POV:
Everything. Every decision we've made in the past few years has been manipulated, influenced, for the evil that is within Cordelia. An evil that wanted to come forth so it encouraged our choices.
It sent me to Pylea. Why? Because it needed me with Angel Investigations. If I had never opened that book, I would have graduated and would now be in a lab somewhere. I would never have met Wesley, Angel, Cordelia, or Charles. But why did it need me here?
It needed Charles here too. If Alonna hadn't been turned and he hadn't had to stake her, he would probably still be with his friends, his crew. Instead he became depressed and friends with Angel, then best friends with Wesley.
But this evil, which has no name, needed Connor, and not Connor as he was a year ago, a baby. It needed him, as he is now, a teenager. It needed him to grow up quickly. It needed Wesley to translate that prophecy and to believe it. For him to believe he had no option but to take Connor, for Justine to attack him, and for Holtz to take Connor through the portal. But how do you break up a friendship forged by bullets and blood? You bring in a girl.
Wesley loves me, so strongly, so deeply, that when I ended up with Charles instead, he withdrew into himself. He became susceptible to the evil's influence. He was manipulated to believe evil's way was the only way. He couldn't even talk to Cordelia because she was away with Groo.
So I had to go to Pylea, and Lorne had to come here, so when they came to find me Lorne could lead the way. They found Groo and me and we broke up the friendships between Charles and Wesley, and Angel and Cordelia. Our decisions lead to this evil. If I hadn't chosen Charles, Connor would be a year and a half. There would have been no rain of fire, no endless nights. Hundreds would still be alive. If Wesley had spoken sooner and I had followed my heart, rather than my fears, we might have stopped all that.
Charles says we should treat every decision as if the whole world hangs in the balance. Okay, I choose Wesley, his passion, his fire, his belief in me and in what's right. That is what my heart says. My fears no longer get a say.
