“Angelkins! My Pinocchio story come to life! I see you’ve finally gotten ridden of the felt look.”

Stopping at Harmony’s desk in reception, Angel straightened up a bit and ran a hand through his hair – real, actual hair again and not that ridiculous stuffed animal fluff he had had trouble combing for the last three days. His own hair gave him enough problems. “Yeah, woke up this morning back to normal. I think I know how Nina feels to a degree now.”

“And how go things with our favorite puppet chewer?” Lorne asked as Angel took the stack of mail Harmony held out to him.

“Ummm...good, I guess. We’ve had breakfast. It was nice.” Angel started to shuffle through the envelopes without looking up.

“Ohhhhhhhhh,” the demon said, leaning on the reception desk, “looks like someone may actually be getting a social life.” He gave Harmony a wink. “You two lovebirds deserve some happiness. Not perfect happiness, mind, because we don’t want that whole soul curse coming back to bite us in the ass yet again, but some—.” He suddenly noticed the way Angel was glaring at him. “—Aaaaaaaand speaking of lovebirds, where is our other resident pair this morning?”

“Wesley and Fred? I told them to take a long weekend.”

“Helping the cause along, are we?”

“Oh, I think they’re managing just fine on their own.”

The sun shone brightly, reflecting off the lake as Wesley’s jeep pulled up in front of a cabin half-hidden by large trees. As the vehicle came to a stop, Fred leaned forward in the passenger seat, her mouth open slightly in amazement. From what she could see, the cabin wasn’t so much a typical cabin as a small rustic-looking house with a veranda.

“Wesley, this really is...?”

“Mine?” He nodded in answer to the question and rested his arms over the steering wheel. “This is the only thing I’ve left myself purchase with my Wolfram and Hart salary...besides essentials. The firm doesn’t know about it, of course.”

“What made you...? Why this place?”

“After what happened with my—with that cyborg pretending to be my father, I needed to get away. I did some online searches and found this place.” Unbuckling his seatbelt, he got out of the jeep and circled around to open the passenger door for Fred. “I was hoping...maybe one day I’d be able to...”

Smiling, she slid down out of the vehicle into his arms. “No more maybes.” She rose up on her tiptoes to give him a kiss then took his hand. “So do I get the grand tour?”

“Of course.” He started to let go of her and move towards the tailgate. “Let me get the—.”

But she held fast to his hand and pulled with her toward the cabin. “Tour now. Bags later.”

Chuckling, he let her lead him up onto the porch. With a bit of one-handed fumbling, he managed to get the keys out of his jacket pocket and unlock the door. Fred stepped into the house first, Wesley right behind her.

Almost the entire first floor of the cabin was an open room with a large sitting area to the right before a stone fireplace in the front corner. To the left was a dining table and a door that lead to a kitchen while directly to the back was a nook that Wesley had set up as study with a desk, another couch and several bookshelves lined with every kind of book imaginable. Fred, walking over to the shelves, recognized several of the titles and realized that this was where Wesley had decided to store his books from the hotel. A staircase against the rear wall of kitchen ascended to a loft over the study nook.

At the stairs, Fred climbed a few steps, stopping to look back with a smile at Wesley, who was standing in the middle of the main room. “Bedroom?” she asked, chucking her thumb over her shoulder.

He nodded, crossing over to the step one down from her, his hands reaching up to encircle her waist. “Would you like to see it?”

“I thought that was the idea,” she whispered before leaning down to kiss him.

As he pulled her closer, Fred melted into his embrace while his hands roamed over her body. He marveled at being able to touch her like this, the way he had wanted to for almost three years. Trailing a kiss from her lips, he buried his face in the crook of her neck, sending shivers of electricity through every nerve of her body. With a moan of delight, she threw her head back while her own hands moved under his jacket to explore his torso through the fabric of his shirt. Wesley’s breathing became ragged – her touch was sending feelings through him that he had once thought would never happen with her, no matter how much he wanted them to.

Suddenly, he pulled away. “Fred . . . ?” he asked, locking his eyes with hers.

She put her hands up to his face, answering his unspoken question with the look in her eyes and then by casting her glance up the stairs. With a smile, Wesley wrapped his arms around her and picked her, carrying her up into the bedroom loft.

Once he had set her down again in front of the bed, they began stripping each other’s clothes off. Fred quickly undid the buttons of Wesley’s shirt and pushed it off his shoulders, her fingers trailing over his skin, causing goose bumps to rise on his arms. Tossing the shirt to the ground, she began to place teasing kisses on him, smiling at the jolt that ran through him each time her lips can in contact with his chest.

“Your turn,” he growled a few moments later, pushing the elasticized sleeves of her blouse down. As he kissed her shoulders, he unbuttoned the tiny buttons holding the garment closed. A moment later, it fell open to reveal her breasts. Smiling impishly, he massaged one for a few seconds, enjoying the way her eyes closed halfway and her mouth fell open a bit, before bending down to lick around one of the nipples. Fred gasped loudly as the sensation of his tongue teasing her coursed through her.

Meanwhile, her hands ran down his sides to the waistband on his pants. She could already feel him as they pressed up against each other. Trying to keep from shaking, she unzipped his jeans and pushed them down to the ground. Once she let them go, Wes took her arm and gently planted a kiss on the inside of her wrist, trailing his tongue ever so slowly up her arm to her neck. Hesitantly, she reached down to caress him, causing him shudder as every nerve in his body came alive.

Willing himself not to lose control, he quickly pushed Fred’s skirt and then her panties completely off her. His fingers brushed across her abdomen, and she shuddered a bit, which excited him to no end. Everything about her excited him from her hair to her lips to her hands to her feet. After tracing circles around her belly button, his hand explored lower, touching her between her legs, teasing her with quick strokes that made her weak in the knees. Before she collapsed, he gathered her in his arms and took her over to the bed, resting her on top of the quilted duvet.

Reaching up, she drew him down over her, kissing him again as she wrapped her legs around him. For a brief moment, Wesley hesitated. This was it. It was really happening between them – it wasn’t some dream or fantasy. It was real. Oh God, was it real. Once he had entered her, he didn’t move for the first few moments, instead just staying still, his mind still trying to process that this was Fred.

“Wesley?” she asked quietly, her hand coming up to cup his cheek. “Are you...?”

Raising his head, he looked into her eyes. “I’m fine.” He paused for a moment. “I love you, Fred.”

At this, she felt her breath catch in her throat. “I love you, too.”

He kissed her once more as he began thrusting, Fred raising her hips with each movement. She threw her head back, her soft moans filling the otherwise silent room. After a few moments, he rolled them over, bringing Fred to rest on top of him. Sitting up, she looked down at him.

“You’re beautiful,” he told her, his hands reaching up to run through her long hair.

With a grin, she bent down to kiss him on the lips. “So are you.”

“Beautiful?”

She nodded and sat up again.

“Coming from you, I can live with that.”

His hands traced down across her breasts to grasp her waist, guiding her renewed movements against him. The pace started slow and built in intensity until Wesley let out a strangled groan. Close, so close.

“Fred,” he rasped.

Everything within her was starting to tingle from the assault of sensations, and the sound of him saying her name that way while his fingers moved across her skin sent her spinning out of control, her entire body quaking. Her contracting around him pushed him over the edge finally. With a final thrust, he exploded within her, his mind blanking for a moment at the overwhelming feeling of it all.

With a whisper of his name, Fred collapsed on top of him, her breathing heavy. Wes slowly brought his arms up to wrap around her, holding her close against him.

And only one word came to mind when he could form a coherent thought again.

Finally.

“Here.”

As she sat on the edge of the dock overlooking the lake in the growing twilight, Fred felt something slip over her shoulders. She reached up to pull the jacket more closely around her and gave Wesley a smile as he sat down beside her and slipped his arm around her. While he dangled his legs over the side, just skimming the water with the soles of his shoes, she cuddled up against him, resting her head against his shoulder.

“It’s really gorgeous out here,” she stated. “It’s been awhile since I’ve been away from the city...those five years in Pylea not counting, of course.”

“I would say that Pylea counts as anything but a vacation.”

“That’s for sure.” She gazed up at the stars that were now visible by the millions out here without the city lights to wash them out. “I wish we didn’t have to go back tomorrow.”

Reaching over, Wesley crooked his finger under her chin and turned her face towards his. “Who said we had to?”

Fred grinned at him as they moved together for a kiss.

“All right, Wes. No...that’s fine. We’ll see you two when you get back.”

Lorne walked into the office just as Angel hung the phone up on its base. “Was that one of our missing pair?”

“Yeah, that was Wes,” he responded, sitting back in his chair. “He and Fred are taking another two days off. They’ll be back here Wednesday morning.”

With a wide smile, Lorne hitched himself up on the edge of the desk and tossed the papers he had brought in down in front of his friend. “Well, considering how long it finally took those two to get together, I say they deserve all the time they can get.”
